Sunday Snapshots : Remembering To Look Up

January 15, 2012 by Nancy Lopez-McHugh 28 Comments

“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” Oscar Wilde

The cold winter weather keeps me mostly indoors. Somedays even the simple task of running to the small market up the street can be daunting. I stepped out of our building and into the sidewalk not really noticing much other than the cool winter air. Picking up the pace so I could get my errand over with and retreat back into my bear cave. The market didn’t have everything I needed, argh!, I have to make one more stop. Quickly making my way up the street, then  turning the corner.

This stopped me dead in my tracks. One of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.

Out loud I said, WOW!,Quickly grabbing my phone to snap a few photos. I stood gaze up and in awe of nature.

After a couple of minutes I looked back down. As I started looking around me I noticed a few other people had also stopped to admire the spectacular sunset. Smiling to myself because I wasn’t alone in admiring those vibrant hues in the sky.

Had I not gone out and not been “inconvenienced” by the market I would have missed this sunset. What a pity that would have been. It’s funny how when you least expect it life throws important lessons your way.

No matter what you have going on remember to look up now and then. You wouldn’t want to miss those small beautiful moments in life, would you?

“May I never miss a sunset or rainbow because I am looking down.” Sara June Parker

P.S.
There is no manipulation done to these photos. They are straight out of my phone camera.
