This Sunday I’d like to share a few things I have been loving this week.
Strawberries. This past week when I walked into my green grocers the sweet scent of strawberries was thick in the air. I love this time of year because the vibrant colors of summers fruits and vegetables are starting to pop up around the city. I bought a pint of strawberries and some baby spinach to make a salad similar to this one, Arugula, Maché Strawberry Salad with Mustard Vinaigrette. I’m still crushing radishes too.
Smoked fish is something I have come to love because of Prague. Smoked fish is very popular here and you can find a variety of fresh and salt water smoked fish. Right now my favorite one is Mackerel. I love smoked Mackerel for breakfast. Yes, breakfast.
My favorite way of eating smoked Mackerel for breakfast is on some Swedish cracker bread, also know as knäckebröd or crisp bread. So, so good.
I recently told you about my love of potato chips. This week I found Wasabi potato chips. They were awesome!! The crispy, salty, spicy taste is one that I can see myself craving often.
You can see the slight greenish color from the Wasabi on the chips. Mmmm…my mouth is watering so I guess I’ll have to go get another bag.
On Sunday’s our spoiled birdies get a special breakfast of scrambled eggs. I love to watch Chachi pick up scrambled egg with his talon and shove it into his mouth. Isn’t it cute?
Thanks for stopping by and reading another installment of Sunday Snapshots. The YBR roundup will be on Wednesday, and the deadline is Tuesday. So send in those submissions. Also incase you missed it I shared a photography tutorial on Friday. You can read it here, Food Photography: Food Porn Websites and Tips.
Happy Sunday everyone!
I allso love potato chips (the wasabi kind too) and smoked fish/mackerel! Lovely clicks.
Cheers,
Rosa
We have much in common then Rosa:)
just loved the picture of the strawberry and spinach. The colours look so vibrant. Making a salad out of it seems like a wonderful idea. Have a wonderful Sunday :)
Thank you Nandita! The colors were great to start but with a little levels adjustment it makes them pop even more. Thanks and you too have a great Sunday!
Intersting potato chips never heard of that flavor another new thng you have introduced me too… have to try!
You really do have to try them Claudia.
:O How can you feed a bird an egg!!! Isn’t that cannibalism for birds??? ;)
Lol! But my little cannibals are so cute. Aren’t they?:)
OMG! A bird eating eggs! So wrong and yet soooo cute.
Lol, I know:)
Great photos, as always. And I absolutely adore the shot of Chachi scooping up the eggs. Very cute indeed. Oh, and I love the look of that smoked mackerel. Yum.
Hi Victoria,
Thank you:)
Wow.. I never knew birdies eat scrambled eggs… too cute!! I just realized I never sent you my YBR for May… SORRY! :( I’m going to go check out the deadline again… but if I missed… shame on me. I should have done it right away instead of getting back to it later. My mind is getting old… Hope you are having a great Sunday! ~ Ramona
Hi Ramona,
We also didn’t know that until we read about it being good for them. Well, at least they like it:) You didn’t miss the deadline. I hope you received my email about it. Thanks
Gorgeous photos! I love your site…Looking forward to more posts from you.
Now I am craving for the wasabi poatato chips… =)
Thank you! I hope you get yourself a bag of wasabi potato chips:)
Must admit to an addiction for smoked fish myself. Beautiful smoked trout not hard to find her or even smoke oneself, BUT . . . I do wish I could get hold of those lovely fat smoked eels which made my childhood breakfasts so memorable :) ! Definitely on real black bred with a tad of fresh horseradish! [oh yes, one more vote for Chachi!!]
Hi Eha,
You are making me hungry! Hehe, thanks I’ll let Chachi know;)
Okay I’m not a big fan of Wasabi but I’m surprised that you could find such flavored potato chips! Smoked mackerel for breakfast! I’d eat it too, but probably with rice and dip the fish in soy sauce. =) You de-bone perfectly!!
Really Nami, you’re not? I love wasabi so much. Okay, next time I’ll add some rice and soy sauce to my smoked mackerel breafast- yum:)
Fish and strawberries are two things I’ve been loving this week too. Not together of course.
Hi Holly,
Hey you never know they may taste great together. Eew but now I’m intrigued:)
Summer strawberries are the best!
They sure are:)!
Each snapshot is stunning…I’d love to eat it all. I’ll let Chachi keep his scrambled eggs…so cute!
Hehe, Thank you Liz!
That bird photo is too cute!
Thanks Emily!
Strawberries are something I can never have, but they sure are lovely! And your babies eat scrambled eggs?…never would have thought of that :)
That’s horrible to be allergic to them:( Yes, they actually love eggs. So weird and funny.
Oh Nancy everything is beautiful but I am glad that you cant come to any functions with my family or friends cause I dont need another competition at the chip bowl
Hehe, I’ll bring my own chips Tania:)
