Sunday Snapshots: Things I Love This Week

May 27, 2012 by Nancy Lopez-McHugh 32 Comments

Sunday Snapshots; Spicie Foodie

This Sunday I’d like to share a few things I have been loving this week.

Sunday Snapshots; Spicie Foodie

Strawberries. This past week when I walked into my green grocers the sweet scent of strawberries was thick in the air. I love this time of year because the vibrant colors of summers fruits and vegetables are starting to pop up around the city. I bought a pint of strawberries and some baby spinach to make a salad similar to this one, Arugula, Maché Strawberry Salad with Mustard Vinaigrette. I’m still crushing radishes too.

Smoked fish is something I have come to love because of Prague. Smoked fish is very popular here and you can find a variety of fresh and salt water smoked fish. Right now my favorite one is Mackerel. I love smoked Mackerel for breakfast. Yes, breakfast.

My favorite way of eating smoked Mackerel for breakfast is on some Swedish cracker bread, also know as knäckebröd or crisp bread. So, so good.

I recently told you about my love of potato chips. This week I found Wasabi potato chips. They were awesome!! The crispy, salty, spicy taste is one that I can see myself craving often.

You can see the slight greenish color from the Wasabi on the chips. Mmmm…my mouth is watering so I guess I’ll have to go get another bag.

On Sunday’s our spoiled birdies get a special breakfast of scrambled eggs. I love to watch Chachi pick up scrambled egg with his talon and shove it into his mouth. Isn’t it cute?

Thanks for stopping by and reading another installment of Sunday Snapshots. The YBR roundup will be on Wednesday, and the deadline is Tuesday. So send in those submissions. Also incase you missed it I shared a photography tutorial on Friday. You can read it here, Food Photography: Food Porn Websites and Tips.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Great photos, as always. And I absolutely adore the shot of Chachi scooping up the eggs. Very cute indeed. Oh, and I love the look of that smoked mackerel. Yum.

I should have done it right away instead of getting back to it later. My mind is getting old… Hope you are having a great Sunday! ~ Ramona

Must admit to an addiction for smoked fish myself. Beautiful smoked trout not hard to find her or even smoke oneself, BUT . . . I do wish I could get hold of those lovely fat smoked eels which made my childhood breakfasts so memorable :) ! Definitely on real black bred with a tad of fresh horseradish! [oh yes, one more vote for Chachi!!]

Okay I’m not a big fan of Wasabi but I’m surprised that you could find such flavored potato chips! Smoked mackerel for breakfast! I’d eat it too, but probably with rice and dip the fish in soy sauce. =) You de-bone perfectly!!
