This past week I’ve been crushing on citrus fruits. I think my week’s crush was started from working on Jean’s (Lemons and Anchovies) interview. In fact after salivating over Jean’s many recipes, using lemons, I caught myself craving and using lemons and so many foods. Thanks Jean;)
When I went to pick up lemons I also found some Kumquats. They are one of my favorite fruits. I couldn’t help myself and so had to shoot a few photos before devouring them.
Even though it is not citrus season here I was lucky enough to find these fine specimens.
When I was shooting a little birdie came my way. I think she wanted a taste. In case you’re wondering why her hair is so disheveled, they are molting.
Before my feathery visitor flew away she left me a little gift…
Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend. I’ll have another recipe for you tomorrow, see you then.
Beautiful shots!
Cheers,
Rosa
Thank you Rosa!
What intense pictures. They are telling quite the story, even with the feather.
Thank you Angela:)
Stunning photos! Love all this citrus!
Thanks Marla:)
Beautiful shots, I can almost taste the citrus!
Thank you Laura!
Absolutely beautiful! My grandpa loved kumquats. There were a lot of kumquat trees where he worked and no one ever picked them, until my grandpa told everyone that they were a delicious fruit. He’d bring home buckets full of golden kumquats, most we’d eat, and the rest were used to make a jam. So delicious! :)
Hi Leslie,
I’m sure everyone was very grateful to your grandfather. I haven’t tried making jam, sounds good:)
I love lemons because they are so versatile!
Me too:)
So beautiful! They look like jewels!
Thank you:)!
Your photos are so inspiring, I love them. Your little bird is quite striking. Happy Sunday, my dear.
Thank you Suzi.
Just gorgeous! Hope you are having a lovely Sunday, hugs
Thanks Alisha, hugs!
Sigh…those were lovely.
Thank you Victoria:)
I love your Sunday Snapshot posts. There is something very relaxing about your photos. Great break from a Sunday of chores.
Hi Emily,
Thank you, glad to hear it. If I can help in giving you a break or distraction anyway from Sunday chores, then I’m happy:)
These are lovely. The glow of the orange and golds is just perfect. Did Birdie like the citrus?
Thank you Tania. No, she didn’t seem to like it. I’ll have to keep giving them tastes and see if they end up like them.
aren’t those kumquats? they are my favorite!
Your beautiful bird reminds me of my gorgeous little love bird that I owned. He used to travel around on my shoulder or in my pocket, as proud as punch of his status. Unfortunately he is no longer with us and I miss him.
Hi Suzanne,
Aw your birdie sounds like such a sweetie. I’m sorry he is no longer here:(
I have both a lemon and Kumquat tree in my backyard…and I use their fruits all the time. Kumquats make the most delicious tea…yum. Gorgeous photos.
Hi Tania,
How lucky are you:) Oh, kumquat tea sounds fantastic.
I can only dream to be able to take photos as beautiful as yours someday! Hopefully it will be sooner than later.
Thank you Vicki that is so sweet.
Lovely photos. The one with the bird is excellent- she compliments the colors of the citrus wonderfully!
Thanks Holly! Haha, yeah she does doesn’t she?:)
I love Kumquats and your Kumquat shots! My kids have been requesting to have pet birdie in our house. They will be jealous!
Hi Nami,
Thank you. Oh, too bad we don’t live close to each other so your kiddos can come and play with Joanie and Cachi.
When you took these pictures were the lights off in the room and you are using artificial lighting on one side? I would like to learn more how your pictures come out so amazing.
Hi,
No they were shot using window light. You can see it in the photo with my bird. I’ve shared some photography tutorials that might interest you, http://www.spiciefoodie.com/photography/tutorials/
