Sunday Snapshots: Postcards From Prague No. 6

January 20, 2013 by Nancy Lopez-McHugh 15 Comments

Taking a walk around Prague inspires me to snap photos of the things I see. It’s just such a gorgeous city. Around every corner, passage and courtyard there is something new to discover. Mostly I try not to be distracted by capturing “the perfect” shot and really enjoy the moment. I never want to become a person that misses the real world around them because they are too busy capturing it through their camera’s lens or phone’s view screen.

In the countless walks I’ve been lucky to digitally capture some memorable views moments after visually taking them in. I have so many photos I want to share with you but my busy schedule has created quite a backlog. These five pictures were shot some time ago but alas I’m sharing them and I hope you enjoy the views.

This courtyard is adjacent to the famous Palffy Palace Restaurant. It is one of the most exclusive restaurants in Prague so you might want to check it out. The courtyard leads up to the lower gardens of the castle. Unfortunately they were closed when we arrived so we just enjoyed the walk around the courtyard. (These photos were all shot in very late summer a couple years ago.)

As always, lovely photos. I thought Prague was very beautiful and can only be outdone by Rome.
Recently I have thought of taking photos on my travels in a different way. I think we see the world in quite a unique way through the camera lens. It’s a series of beautiful vignettes that we see as we move our cameras this way and that and these are small scenes we would otherwise have never seen in quite that way. I think it can enhance our view of the world as we pass through it.

Your lovely photos reached out and pulled me in, almost expecting to hear Czech conversations all around me.

I feel you have invited us on a secret walk away from the hullabaloo of the city. Such lovely verdant corners . . . another few months and it will be like that again :) !

Such gorgeous shots…it looks so peaceful and serene. I feel the same way – I love snapping pictures when I’m traveling or out and about, but I hate to be so preoccupied with it that I miss out on what’s actually going on around me. But looking back at the memories preserved in the photos, I’m always glad that I snapped a few pictures…and I’m glad you snapped a few shots and shared them with us! :)
