“Life is like an onion. You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.” ― Carl Sandburg

“It doesn’t matter how precisely the onion is cut as long as the person chewing it is happy.” ― Padma Lakshmi

“What I say is that, if a fellow really likes potatoes, he must be a pretty decent sort of fellow.” – A. A. Milne

“Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes.” ― Alan Watts

“It is easy to think of potatoes, and fortunately for men who have not much money it is easy to think of them with a certain safety. Potatoes are one of the last things to disappear, in times of war, which is probably why they should not be forgotten in times of peace.” ― M.F.K. Fisher, How to Cook a Wolf

I love all of the quotes! I was telling someone the other day, that I love hand kneading bread because it’s very Zenlike. When you love to cook and bake, I think there are many things that are Zenlike. :) No one has made a bowl of onions look SO good! Thanks for the shoutout Darlin! Hope you’re having a great week!

I also think cooking is very Zenlike, maybe that’s why I love it so much. Thanks sweetie! You too have a great week.

:) ! Oh dear – reading AA Milne and Alan Watts’ marvellous quotes I am really behind the eight-ball not having eaten potatoes for some three decades!! Wonder whether double the amount of onios others eat will half-way make up for that omission :D ?
