Sometimes I come across food that is so perfect in beauty, color and texture that I can almost hear it calling to me. It asks to be taken home, photographed, cooked, devoured and share the results with the world. These vibrant yellow tomatoes and golden summer squash are two such foods. It’s as though they jumped right into my basket as I passed them at the green grocers. How could I deny them a place on my table and in front of my camera’s lens? Would you be able to? I think it impossible.
Today I haven’t a recipe to share, only these photographs. I simply wanted to share with you the beauty and striking colors of these summer fruits. (Both tomatoes and quash are botanically classified as fruits, though used as vegetables.)
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed photographing them. Should I turn either into a new recipe I’ll be sure to share with you.
Thank you for stopping by today!:)
Beautiful clicks! That yellow is ever so vibrant.
Cheers,
Rosa
Yes, the color is unreal. Thank you Rosa!
It’s so beautiful. Nature is beautiful isn’t it? I am glad you shared it with us.
Yes, nature really is and it has a great of reminding us of it. Thank you Marta!
Better than commercial photos

Hi Shema,
Thank you and welcome to my website. I look forward to stopping by your blog.:)
Yellow. My favorite color. And how you reveal it is just a marvel. And Nancy, I do hope to travel with you on one of my Morocco trips one year. I can only imagine what you would do with your camera there. And then, there is the food.
It isn’t usually one of mine, but these tomatoes and squash are making me rethink that. Oh, you are really tempting me now Victoria. It would be so much fun to join you.:)
Beautiful, thank you for sharing!
Thank you Bryan!:)
Just a comment that I just read the latest from Yankee magazine where they were reviewing the menu at an inn in Maine and they shared a recipe using fresh yellow squash sliced on a mandolin and combined with fresh tomatoes and onions in a salad with a light dressing. Sounded wonderful!
Hi Christine,
Thank you for sharing that, it sounds mouthwatering!
Gorgeous pictures!
Thank you Ravie!
Please give us more colors of the rainbow! These pics are lovely!
It would be my pleasure Sandra;)
Beautiful shots, I can hardly wait for my tomatoes to be ripe! :)
Oh how exciting for you, thank you Laura!
Such beautiful pics, especially the first one with a slice of tomato. They would jump into my basket too. Hope they were delicious!
Thank you Evelyne! They are both really tasty.
Very beautiful clicks, Nancy. I love particularly the first one!
Thank you Angie!
Love that deep shade of yellow–beautiful!
Thank you Kiersten!
The “slice” picture is a particular standout, although they’re all good. Such a great color! Good stuff – thanks.
Thank you John, I think that one is my favorite too.:)
Yellow is not always the colour that comes to mind when you think about vegetables but these are so beautiful and so gorgeously captured dear Nancy x
For me it’s green that comes to mind, maybe because I love all green vegetables. Thank you so much Tania!:)
I always say your pictures are like poetry… these are like a sunny symphony!! Beautiful!
Thank you Ramona!
love these photos and the gorgeous yellow! love that things are growing again. :)
Me too Anna, that’s why I love spring — everything comes back to life.
Gorgeous picture Nancy…love the contrast.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead :)
Thank you Juliana and you too have a fantastic weekend!:)
Quite glorious. The two tomatoes together are my favourites for the light landing on the top.
Thank you Suzanne! I love hearing how everyone has a different choice of photo they like best.:)
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! When I see yellow squash that looks like that, it ends up in my basket as well. I can see these these quickly sauteed with a touch of green chile. :) All of the photos are beautiful but the one with the second to last one is one I would hang in my kitchen.
Thank you so much MJ! I ended up grilling the zucchini with some fresh jalapenos — they were so good.
My favorite tomato varieties are the hot house? (coeur de boeuf) and the black tomatoes. Both have such unique tastes, I get so happy when they are in abundance in spring and summer.
I love black tomatoes and but we don’t get those or the coeur de boeuf often enough here — too bad.
Incredible colours! Sometimes it’s hard to photograph a good yellow, and you’ve managed it so well. I can taste the tomatoes now.
Thank you Irina! It’s true yellow is very difficult to photograph, I got lucky this time:)
