Happy Sunday! Today I would like to share some of the foods and things I loved this past week. Enjoy!:)
This corn cake is not only something I loved eating this past week, but also one of my favourite foods ever! I always purchase it at my favourite coffee/chocolate cafe in town, Ah Cacao. This time I washed it down with a cafe latte — I drink my coffee without sugar. The cake is sweet but not too sweet, it’s airy, creamy and dense like a cheesecake but with corn undertones. There is no crust or flour used so it is gluten and wheat free. I’m sure the calories are super high but it’s totally worth it. Someday I’ll learn to make it, for now I’ll treat myself to a slice now and then.
This is a bromeliad plant hubby bought me. Isn’t it super gorgeous? I just hope I don’t kill it.
A few weeks after we arrived in Playa we met a very interesting man from Brazil. He and some friends were traveling from their country all the way up to mine. Their mission was to spread love, peace and understanding for both nature and human beings. He told us that he was studying to become a shaman here in Mexico. As a token of friendship he offered each of us this bright ojo de dois or eye of god. He said it was to bring love, peace and help us realise our dreams. Mine hangs over my desk to help me stay focused on my goals.
Coffee…I think I’m addicted.
This is the first book I bought here. It is about the history of Mexican cuisine mixed with lots of history and culture. I can’t tell you how much I love reading it; How I wish there was an English version for you to read. (Spanish version is here)
The strangest thing has been happening with so many trees around town, their leaves have been turning bright red and orange colours. I haven’t found out why but I know it looks beautiful and kind of reminds me of autumn — a very hot and humid kind of autumn.
These were some really weird carrots in the bunch. Wouldn’t you agree?
This one makes me laugh the most. It’s a bit naughty.;)
Chia seeds, I bough them for the first time. On Facebook so many offered delicious advice as to what to do with them. So far I’ve used them in smoothies and really like them.
If fresh, warm corn tortillas right off the press aren’t enough, I found these chipotle and blue corn ones too. The blue corn pretty much tasted the same as regular tortillas. The chipotle ones were spicy and our favourite.
We really love to go watch the sunset as often as we can. This evening hubby took me to get an iced chocolate before going to the beach. He really knows how to make me happy.
And this was the sunset that evening. Just gorgeous! We’ve seen so many sunsets here but yet I don’t think I’ll ever get tried of them.
Have a great week ahead and may there be an abundance of love in your life.

Beautiful as always. I love bromeliads. Their colours are gorgeous and I love how they hold that little bit of water after the rain.
