When The Flavours of Oaxaca Came To Playa Del Carmen

May 18, 2014 by Nancy Lopez-McHugh 11 Comments

Happy Sunday everyone!

I can’t believe that we are half way through May already. The time has blazed by with food festivals, holidays, my birthday, anniversary and even a small getaway. I’ve gotten a bit behind on blog work and sharing many recipes and photos with you. These photos are from a festival that happens every year in Playa Del Carmen. It is called “Guelaguetza” and it’s when the flavours and culture of the State of Oaxaca come to town. (How many of you can pronounced the words? Hehe, don’t worry they’re even difficult for me.) This year the festival took place from the 10-27th of April and in front of the municipal palace. If you are planning on being in Playa next year during the month of April do check into the festival, you really won’t want to miss it. We ate the best tamales we’ve had here so far, sampled many Oaxacan delicacies, and even took home some souvenirs — I’ll share those with you another time. For now I hope you enjoy the photos I snapped of the last day of the festival. Have a great day!
