I’ve done some wacky things in my life. And I’ve also done some pretty strange things for my job…
My job, as you know, revolves around food. I not only cook and take photos of it, but I also read extensively on the subject. I’m always on the look out for new and interesting facts that I can learn and share with others. Recently, I came across a forum where people were discussing putting ground up chile pepper in their shoes to keep their feet warm. Of course I had to research it and see if this was actually something people did or have done. It turns out that some do indeed add chili to their shoes. Well, being the curious person that I am, I had to try it for myself. I wrote about the experience on my Spicy Food column. So if you’d like to know if cayenne pepper will keep your feet warm this winter stop by to read my thoughts on this (crazy) home remedy.
Let me know what you think!
P.S.
I love my job! :)
Very interesting! I think I’ll stick to consuming chile and warming myself from the inside out. :)
Hehe, I’m going to do the same:)
This makes perfect sense to me. I once went to a rural “fair” about herbs and natural folk medicines, with be dear friend, who is an herbolist. Fascinating. We were talking with some women who had walked far to attend, through the campo. We discovered (among soooo many things) that they had packed their shoes with a particular herb that released its soothing anti-inflammatory oils as they walked.
That sounds like a fair I would love to attend — I find these kind of folk medicines very interesting. Wonder what that herb was, do you know Victoria?
I’d have never thought of this! Really interesting — thanks.
Thanks, John!
My family would really think I’d gone off the deep end!
My husband did, lol!:)
