So far it has been a very wet rainy season. Right now I’m not minding it much, probably because I get to wear rain boots; And I don’t know why, but I really love wearing rain boots. Perhaps it’s because it brings back memories of being a little girl jumping into puddles after the rain. Do you remember doing that as a child? Wasn’t it so much fun?
Today I made my way to the corner grocery store, trying to dodge raindrops and fighting the strong winds from turning my umbrella inside out, I was reminded of how rain can also be fun. I saw a little girl and her mother walking. There was a big puddle ahead of them and the little girl looked up at her mom with wide eyes and a huge grin. The mother looked backed, smiled, and said go ahead. The little girl began jumping in the puddle like it was the funnest thing she had ever done, but I’m pretty sure this wasn’t her first time jumping in puddles. I couldn’t help but smile and giggle as I walked passed them. Little kids are the best at reminding us about the fun things in life that you can enjoy at any age. While I didn’t allow myself to jump up and down in the puddles (too many people around), I did purposely walk through them and dragged my feet so that the water would splash up a bit. It was silly, but it made me smile.
Have you ever wondered how tacos al pastor are made in the taquerias of Mexico? The photo on the left side is how. It is much like kebabs are made in the Middle East — in fact that is the origin of the tacos (you can read the whole story here). This place is my absolute favourite place to go for tacos al pastor. They taste amazing and the order is huge, it’s a struggle to get five of them down but I can’t waste them. Right?! :)
This church is the main one in the tourist centre part of town. It is small, quaint, and has beautiful views from inside — you can see the ocean. I’ve seen weddings being held there, both locals and foreigners, and I image it’s beautiful getting married in there.
I leave you with this gorgeous sunset that I was very lucky to capture. I think sunset is the best time to be on the beach.
Have a fantastic week and I hope you cook lots, and lots of yummy foods.
what a beautiful place you live in. those tacos al pastor made my mouth water. that was my favorite thing to eat when i was in mexico – and the competition was very fierce.
Thank you Anna! You’ll have to come back to Mexico for some al pastor.:)
