Bolognese Sauce:
  • 500 g or 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 15 oz (400 grams) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 6 oz (200 grams) tomato puree
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp. dried Thyme
  • 2 tsp. dried Oregano
  • 2 tsp. dried Basil
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. salt, adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbs. olive oil
For The Pasta:
  • 1 pack of penne/mostaccioli pasta
  • grated cheese
  1. Heat the oil, cook the ground meat all the way through. Drain off all excess fat from the pan. Next add the minced garlic and cook for 3 minutes, then add all of the spices and stir around for 1 minutes. Add the stewed tomatoes and tomato puree, stir. Cover and simmer until pasta has been boiled.
  1. Preheat oven to 200c or 375f, prepare a large baking dish. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Once pasta is cooked and drained mix with Bolognese sauce until well combined. Pour the pasta into the baking dish, cover with a layer of your favorite grated cheese. Place baking dish in center of oven and bake for 30 minutes and until cheese has melted completely.
Additionally you could mix grated cheese into the pasta before baking. Then add a final layer of grated cheese to top right before baking.
